Tom & Jerry (marketed as Tom & Jerry: The Movie) is a 2021 American live-action/computer-animated slapstick comedy film based on the cartoon characters and animated theatrical short film series of the same name created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, produced by the Warner Animation Group and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is directed (and executive produced) by Tim Story and written by Kevin Costello. The film stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Michael Peña, Colin Jost, Rob Delaney, and Ken Jeong in live-action roles. My thoughts on this Tom and Jerry movie are pretty much the same as Doug's thoughts. However, I'm more of a casual fan of Tom and Jerry and I do enjoy the original cartoons, but not much to love entirely since they do to have weak endings (same with the Chuck Jones ones and I tend to like those more simply for being a Chuck Jones fan). Yet, I'm one of the few people that do enjoy the Tom and Jerry: The Movie from the 90s and it was what introduced me to the duo and it was part of my childhood. As for this live-action/animated hybrid film, I do like it and I saw it twice in theaters. I thought the characters were alright, the story was okay and the effects and animation was amazing. Of course, the story is standard and clique, the acting from the live actors were awkward, unfunny and go back and fourth and the soundtrack is mostly comprised of Hip-Hop, Rap and R&B songs (which I got through with okay despite how distracting they are). Yet, everything else seem great. The cartoon slapstick and violence, the gags and sounds that Tom and Jerry are known for, all of the animals being animated, the cameos of Spike and Droopy Dog and, what I found to be the best part, the way the characters are animated, being a perfect hybrid of CGI and hand-drawn (that is, CGI bodies with hand-drawn like layers composited over). But overall, I had a good time with it. It's a fun little comedy with funny jokes and great animation from Tom and Jerry, yet nothing much with the rest.
I honestly thought it was funny. I’m still shocked with these bad reviews. If you don’t like the movie, fine. But don’t compare this to Alvin and the Chipmunks or The Smurfs. I wouldn’t get why someone would think the slapstick is not funny. If you don’t think the slapstick is funny, go watch the old Tom and Jerry movie and I am sure you’ll change your mind. Was this perfect? No way. My complaints were some of the jokes that I thought didn’t work. The hip hop music was a little off, but it’s one of those moments where you’re like, “If you can’t beat, join them.” The title characters themselves appeared in the movie as much as I hoped for. So in my opinion, the movie was good. 3.5 out of 5 stars.
All I have to say is that droopy easter egg at the start of the movie was worth the price of admission. It kills me just thinking about it.
I wonder if Doug as the Nostalgia Critic would ever think about reviewing Tom and Jerry: The Magic Ring?
The main character is so annoying
This is the thing they keep doing with Live Action Animated movies it's not the Tom and Jerry Movie it's a movie in a hotel featuring Tom and Jerry *AND IT JUST BITES MY BISCUIT!!!*

It was okay. The plot had nothing really to do with Tom and Jerry. You're gonna have to cheat a bit to get an hour and a half's worth of material out of a cartoon cat chasing a cartoon mouse.
I remember the most disappointed I was with a movie trailer was the second goosebumps movie. Me and my boyfriend had seen the first one and we really liked it, and were excited to see the second one. We were even more excited to see jack black do more stuff in it. The egg sure was on our face when he was only in ...maybe 15 minutes of the whole thing.
I watched but shut it off when tom started playing piano when he saw the girl cat. I thought he was going to sing his classic ( is you is or is you ain't my baby ) with the cat band instead he goes hip hop with auto tune. I was shocked. Eminem the best rapper alive today.
Tom and Jerry 1993 is way way too Underated! and very unfairly! I liked both movies the 2021 and the 1993

I honestly liked this movie. This is coming from a life-long Tom and Jerry fan. The first 10 mins took some time to get use to, but once you get use to the lore that the movie establishes (all animals are animated, apparently can do anything humans can do, even talk), once you get past that aspect, the movie flows well. I thought the premise was a good way to get Tom and Jerry to converge into one location. The motivations for both characters to do what they did, was great. Even the human characters were good. Very enjoyable family film for me.

I’m not gonna lie. I actually liked the main character in the movie. She wasn’t unlikeable and you understood her reasonings, even when she was wrong. She was charismatic naturally when she wasn’t trying to be goofy. Her reactions were to basically a non-existent cartoon cat and mouse destruction were believable. I like her. Hope she gets more work because she did great with what she was given to do.
